DaisyDisk App Reviews

164 Customer Reviews:

I’m always riding the limit of my storage, but DaisyDisk is so pretty that it’s almost fun to go hunting for things to clean up :) They really chose a great way to depict what percentage of storage things take up, and the zooming metaphor makes it quick to drill down to a particular spot and investigate. I’ve used other disk space analyzers, like JDiskReport, and WinDirStat (while on Windows) while they definitely get the job done, DaisyDisk is definitely the most enjoyable.

I love this app because I am good with computers, but I’m not an EXPERT with them… so I have no idea how to really dig to find out what’s eating space. This app is cool because it SHOWS you what is going on — easy to locate what’s “big” versus “small”. Defenitely will continue to use.

Absolutely perfect

I had no idea where all my space had gone. 30 minutes after downloading this I had 50 gigs freed. What more can you ask for?

My Mac was quickly running out of available space, I had no idea why. So, I ran DaisyDisk on one of the folders that seemed to be unexplainably full of data and within seconds I could visually detect that remote access log files were close to 750 GB of data! I removed those files and as if by magic, I’m back in great shape again. Thank you guys for an incredible app. Highly recommended.

Overall, DaisyDisk is beautifully designed, minimal, and incredibly intuitive. Certainly the best method I’ve found of opening-up space on a hard drive. I would highly recommend it, and I think it’s priced just right for the utility it provides. However, I would recommend a few changes to the developers: 1.) PLEASE allow the app to *really* go full screen. Currently, the useable window space stays the same size, only the background fades away. PLEASE fix this so the application can fully make use of the full widescreen retina display. The lack of this capability degrades the app’s aesthetics - it feels cheap without it. 2.) Although the app is very intuitive to use, it would be nice if you included a welcome page or a quick tutorial at first launch. 3.) When using QuickLook to preview folders and files, please enable the use of the arrow keys to scroll through items without exiting the preview; it is very inconvenient to have to minimize the QuickLook preview, click on a new item, and open a preview again. These are the only issues I’ve encountered so far. Otherwise, the app is very well designed, efficiently helps you visualize the content on your hardrive, and makes it *SO* easy to free-up space. Definitely worth the purchase.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROGRAM!!!!! Within 2 minutes of using this program. I thought I was scanning my documents folder. But suprise!!! It was deleting the contents of my Documents Folder without any promts and without the documents going to the trash. 9 months of work was gone in a few seconds. With NO warning! I didnt even know I was deleting anything. I am an artist and I lost 9 months of work. Its crazy. I contacted Apple and they are writing the company and ofcourse there is no one to call for help. just an email that says I will be contacted in 24 hours.

I LOVE this product. I hadn’t gotten serious about using it until I found myself at a convention this month (December, 2015) with all our graphics responsibilities and realized that I didn’t have enough space to hold all the graphics/movie files. I freed up 30+ GB right away and now that the convention is completed I’ve gained another 20GB. I need to get DaisyDisk on my other Macs as well. There’s something about the concentric circle presentation that made it very easy to identify and either delete unneeded files or move them to another drive. Good visuals and very intuitive. - Rob, Ohio

i got this app and at first I was skeptical. There was so much stuff going on and nothing explains how to use any of it. But after a little while, I figured everything out. I found out that I had a 15GB file that I didnt even know about until I got this app. I would reccomend this app to anyone and everyone.

i have a bunch of printer stuff taking up room, drag them to the delete dot - won’t delete them. there was an inode in lost and found that was some old system installer from who knows when - also, no delete. that’s the whole reason i bought this app. if the OS X is blocking the delete, then you have to tell your users why. otherwise, UX fail. disappointed.

Once I figured out how to use this app (about 5 mins) I was blazing through multiple hidden folders. Who knew iMessage was hiding 5GB in stored photos from text streams? Who knew that every time you try to charge your iphone by plugging it in, it creates a 3-10GB backup? Old computer game preferences at 1GB, bye Felicia! I wish this app could expand into other areas of my life to trim the fat. Career… Lovehandles… et al...

I bought this software and but for some mistake over internet I paid more than once for the software. They reimburse it immediately and I must say they have an excellent customer service. As for software it is beautiful and very useful to control your computer. Price vs.usefulness merits even 6 stars...

Wow this is such a cool app. Weirdly it makes it ridiculously simple and fun to clear up space. I feel like I am doing a deep clean of my house. I almost want to delete my entire hard drive with this thing lol… That wouldn’t be good. Anyway great app!! Highly recommend it for those of you who have to constantly delete crap just like me due to having only a couple hundred gigs due to SSD’s being expensive these days. 256 GB is nothing these days. Years ago 256GB would be massive. Not so anymore so this app does wonders when having to deal with a headache as I mentioned.

My 2TB drive is usually pretty sluggish - still Daisy Disk only takes a couple of minutes for a full scan. I like the visual representation - it quickly allowed me to see where the big space hogs were so I could transfer them to a network drive. As I am getting critically low on free space, this app really is a time-saver and gives you much more information than the built-in storage usage graph.

I picked this up on one of Apple’s productivity promotions, but I’m finding it less useful than I thought it would be. A nice enough app if you’re looking for a visual representation of what’s taking up space on your drive, but not as useful (at least for me) for pruning a drive that’s gotten too full. WhatSize uses a Finder paradigm for it’s listing of files, and I find that to be more useful when I’m trying to free up space. It really lets you drill into the disk structure and then back out. YMMV.

Easiest 10 GB Ever

Within two minutes, this app helped me find a 9.9 GB folder that I no longer used. Definitely worth $5.

Sean Carpenter · 10 years ago

This is the best app I have found for cleaning up your computer when you run out of space. It completely breaks down your computer memory and is easy to follow. Easliy allows you to delete and find the files that clog up your memory. Totally worth the price.

For a while, I’ve been wanting to clean off unnecessary items on my computer’s hard drive. I put it off because I felt it was near impossible to determine what took up the most space. I purchased DaisyDisk during the 1/2-off, productivity sale and do not regret it! Effortlessly, I was able to use the app to identify the largest files, folders, and apps that I was no longer using and delete them. I freed up 30 GB. Thank you for this app!
